“Worry is the darkroom where negatives develop.”
Is this quote true? Does worrying have any beneficial outcome? I do it less than some I know, but more than others. What is the difference between worrying and pondering?
worry: to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret.
ponder: to consider something deeply and thoroughly; meditate.
It seems inherant in the definitions that the difference is how you feel. If mulling over certain things does nothing but cause torment, stop it! That is worry, useless worry. If you are thinking, considering, pondering, seeking answers it is beneficial and thus not worrying. It is a good thing to do on a very regular basis. You just have to know when to stop.
Knowing when to stop is the trick isn't it? There have been some nights I've needed Kava Kava to stop, otherwise I worry about stupid things like groceries and winter clothes and such until dawn.
