Gall Bladder. That's the latest suspect. It makes sense considering my family history and symptoms (nausea, feeling full, loss of appetite, stomach/abdominal pain, fatigue, weight loss, and of course - diahrrea and flatulence). Next week I'm going in for an ultrasound to check my guts. In the meantime I get to mull over the implications.
The doctor said to avoid fatty foods to keep the symptoms to a minimum. I've done that. OK, with the exception of McDonalds the day he gave me the instructions - as soon as you're told you can't have it, you want it. Other than that though, I've stuck to the healthy diet that seems so important when you can only get so much food down. I've mentioned before that we've focused on healthy eating in our home with good results.
Despite these good efforts I continue to be uncomfortable. So last night I googled.
It turns out that when you have a sensitive gall bladder you need to avoid all foods that are hard to digest, like whole grains, legumes, fruit with edible peels, and full throttle dairy. (Full throttle dairy means high fat content and lactose.)
Do you see the irony here?
I've done my best to eat healthy, when in reality it is aggrevating the problem. It is strangely reminiscent of my knee issues. What I was doing in an effort to be healthy, running and walking, actually intensified my pain and injury.
Of course both of these situations are unusual and temporary. I heartily encourage everyone to eat well and exercise. But it makes me wonder if my body, and God, are trying to send me a message here. Obviously I'm thick headed.
Oh, wow. Hard when things are backwards.
I think of you often when I want to exercise, but body doesn't. Hard stuff. Not quite sure what to learn from that, actually, but I think sometimes it's just about doing your best w/ what you have. "I have not, but if I had, I would do" or something like that? :)
Can't wait for updates.

What did you find out from your ultrasound?
My friend just had her gallbladder removed - is that something you'll need to have done?
I hope they get it figured out soon!
