I agree with this. Not a sin, mearly a human condition. Your intention is to obey, and God knows this. I sometimes have the same thing happen. I think the Lord accepts what we can give, knows our hearts.


This was lovely and made me cry and I love you.


The law of the fast includes conditional allowances for health issues, so I would leave that on the table as you ponder this.

FWIW, I often do something alternative, for example, I do what your friend did during pregnancy -- I do give up sweets and snacks and try to keep my eating really simple. Sometimes I will do this for several Sundays in a row. When I do it, it's a deliberate, conscious thing. I do struggle with that tension, though, so I totally know what you mean. You'll be able to figure out what is right for you. And I think that is half of the journey - and learning to lean on the Atonement in the process.
